Before the Great Abyss

from Space by Neil Howell

lyrics

I can't really tell how far I've gone
Dark dreams swirl from so long ago
The universe above and below
Heaven doesn't seem that far to go
Haven't seen the world for millennia
The dark void calls to me
Come home

Pressure grows
Gravity becomes my hell
Down I fall
Crushing me like a brittle shell
I can't see anymore
My body fades
One last push to escape
Is it too late?

Captain, we have an unauthorized disembarkment on pod bay seven.
It appears to be the Commander, sir.
What in the world is he doing?
Pilot, take a rescue team down and bring him back.
Sergeant, establish communications with that pod, now.

I hear a sound
Is it within or without me?
Reach out your hand
And grab the line

Nothing to see here
Nothing to do
Am I dreaming?
Could this be true
'Cause I feel okay for the moment
I don't know what to think about you now
You're so far away

The image is gone
Momentary lapse of consciousness
The pain is unreal
As I'm torn apart to nothingness

Pilot, abandon your mission.
If you go any further that thing is going to pull you in, too.
Yes, sir.
Captain, we can't just leave him.
We, have no choice, lieutenant.
But, he'll be ripped apart!
It's too late.
Whatever his reasons, the Commander's fate is beyond ours, now.
